St. Kenneth's believes parents are the best teachers of faith for their children. The sacramental life is lived out in the context of family, so parents have a primary role in preparation for Eucharist and Reconciliation. The parish provides parents with orientation and materials to use at home. Gatherings such as retreat, Blessing Cup Meal and Family Reconciliation reinforce the family/faith community context of our sacramental life.

Christian Formation Program (CFP)
St. Kenneth's assists parents in forming their children in the faith by providing structured catechesis for children in grades 1-5 through weekly after school sessions with trained parish catechists. Children absorb the Gospel message through exploration of the Sunday readings, called lectionary-based catechesis. Prayer and service are also incorporated into faith formation. 2007-8 CFP registration packs with complete information have been mailed and are available at the parish office. Family Catechesis
Families are offered an alternative catechetical program, Family Religious Education. Here parents themselves provide structured catechesis for their children at home, using parish-provided materials. Several times during the year families connect with each other for continuing adult faith formation and catechesis for children grades one through eight. 2007-8 FRE registration packs with complete information have been mailed and are available at the parish office. Vacation Bible School
In June children pre K to grade 5 have the opportunity for a week-long experience of faith stories based on Scripture. Crafts, games, video presentations and music reinforce the biblical theme. Young teens ably assist with their service and faith witness.
Children's Liturgy of the Word
The Church recognizes that young children have special needs when celebrating the Liturgy. Our parish offers Children's Liturgy of the Word (called Rainbow Sunday) during the 9 and 11 a.m. Masses. Children leave the assembly to hear and pray the Gospel in age-appropriate ways. They then return to their families to continue the Liturgy of the Eucharist. There is no registration for this program.
