Fr. Tom Belczak
Pastor
Father Tom Belczak, serves as the fifth pastor of Saint Kenneth Parish. He grew up on the west wide of Detroit and attended Saint Stephen Grade School, Sacred Heart Seminary High School and graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1971. He continued his religious formation at Sacred Heart Seminary College in Detroit; he received a Master's Degree in Religious Studies from the University of Detroit and continued his education and formation for priesthood attaining a Master of Divinity Degree at Saint John's Seminary in Plymouth. Tom Belczak was ordained to the Diaconate in January, 1979 and was assigned to Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn where he served as a Deacon until his ordination to priesthood on May 31, 1980.
His first assignment following ordination was to Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Waterford, Michigan where he served as Associate Pastor for four years. On July 1, 1984 he was transferred to Saint John Neumann Parish in Canton where he served as Associate Pastor for five years. On July 4, 1989 he was appointed to Saint Valentine Parish in Redford Township where he served as Pastor for almost fifteen years. Father Tom Belczak moved to Plymouth and began his pastorate at Saint Kenneth in February 2004.
In addition to his parish responsibilities, Father Tom Belczak has been elected and served two consecutive terms on the Assignment Board of the Archdiocese of Detroit; one term as a representative on the Detroit Association of Priests; and two terms on the Archdiocesan Presbyterial Council; and he is currently serving as an appointed Chaplain to the "Friends of the Cardinal", a fraternal service organization supporting the work of the Archbishop of Detroit.
A warm and loving shepherd to our community, he is seen at the doors of the church each weekend welcoming visitors and guests and greeting parishioners prior to or after the celebration of the Eucharist. Father Tom Belczak enjoys traveling with his only brother, Father Edward Belczak, pastor of Saint Thomas More Parish in Troy, Michigan. The Belczak brothers have been very fortunate to enjoy each other's companionship while traveling together around the world for more than thirty years. For relaxation and fun, Father Tom enjoys going to the movies with friends; socializing with his priest support group; fine dining; and his once-a-year hobby: building and displaying his collectable "north pole" village pieces at his home each Christmas.
Gretchen Hennen
Coordinator of Faith Formation
Gretchen Hennen joined the pastoral staff on July 1, 2007 as the Coordinator of Faith Formation. She brings twenty year of varied catechetical experience to this ministry. Gretchen's love of children, energy and enthusiam continues to grow through a shared faith journey with the people of St. Kenneth.
Barbara Fugate
Administrative Assistant to the Coordinator of Faith Formation
In this position Barbarba serves the Coordinator of Faith Formation and performs as an executive secretary in an administrative capacity. She enjoys her work and attributes this pleasure to the people she serves.
Mary Lippert
Coordinator of LOGOS and Youth Ministry
Mary has been a catechist at St. Kenneth for the past 5 years. She has taught 1st, 4th and 5th grades and has been active in the LOGOS program. She is now working towards her certification in Youth Ministry. Mary and her husband Doug are raising four children and have been active at St. Kenneth since 1998.
Jonell Traylor
Assistant to the Coordinator of LOGOS
Jonell assists the Coordinator of LOGOS and serves as administrative assistant for the LOGOS and confirmation programs. She has been involved in Youth Ministry for the past twenty years.
Rosemary (Rosie) Marsh
Business Manager
Rosie serves as Business Manager for our parish. In this capacity, her major responsibilities include: coordinating and finalizing annual archdiocese budgets for Parish Counsel approval; preparing audit materials; coordinating the annual Christian Service Appeal Drive; maintaining the parish census; tracking all census related information pertinent to finances; she attends Stewardship Commission meetings, serving as financial reporter, and is responsible for numerous additional financial and technical aspects of parish life. Rosie, along with husband Darwin and their four children (Maria, Sarah, Matthew and Ronnie) has been a parishioner since 1991. Her talents are not limited to the financial areas, and one may find her cleaning the kitchen in the social hall, serving coffee and donuts, painting, and organizing events. She was a member of the St. Kenneth Handbell Choir, and has served as chaperone for numerous youth group events; She has sewn costumes, painted sets for theatre productions, washed floors - but she doesn't do windows! In short, the only thing small about Rosie is her stature.
Amy Sauve
Music Director
Amy has been playing piano since age five. Her formal musical training is from Michigan State University, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Oberlin College and The Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in Russia. Her performances have taken her all over the world, including The White House and St. Petersburg, Russia. Amy has performed with many great artists such as jazz legend Benny Carter, operatic diva Frederica Von Stadt, to rockers Survivor & Night Ranger. Amy has been involved with liturgical music since her elementary days at St. Edith School and Parish. She is thrilled to be sharing her gift of music with our Faith Community at St. Kenneth.
Marianne Ervin
Children's Choir Director
Mary Anne is the current director of the Children's choir here at St. Kenneth. Her skill in working with elementary school children is amazing, and so is her musicianship. We are fortunate to have her services.
Roy Coloma
Assistant Instrumentalist
Roy has been serving as a pianist for the community for many years. He has accompanied our choir and can regularly be seen playing for our 7:30 AM Sunday liturgies. He holds a certificate in piano pedagogy from Schoolcraft College, and has an active teaching studio in his home.
Nick Wilczynski
Assistant Instrumentalist
Nick received a degree in music education from the University of Michigan, and has been playing for St. Kenneth since 2003. He also plays in various clubs and with bands throughout the Detroit area, as well as other events for the Archdiocese of Detroit. His skill and warmth on the soprano saxophone are compelling and add great depth to our worship experience. In April of 2008 Nick left to tour with Alicia Keys. We congratulate him and patiently await his return!
