This program consists primarily of nurses, doctors, and other health care providers who offer training and counseling to Saint Kenneth parishioners. On the third weekend of each month the nurses voluntarily take blood pressures after the 4:30 PM Saturday mass and after the 7:30 and 9:00 AM Sunday masses. Throughout the year on scheduled dates, the nurses offer training in CPR, First Aid, the use of the parish defibrillators, nutrition, babysitting and health education sessions. The health ministry team prepares 'good nutrition' and 'good health maintenance' articles for the weekly bulletin, which benefit all parishioners. In addition, the nurses do home visits and talk with families in order to cope with a difficult conditions/situations.
The Health Care Ministry meets on the third Monday of Sept., Nov., Jan., Mar., and May to review the status of their programs and then meets every other month with other parish's nurses and our area sponsor, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital System-Ann Arbor to coordinate/share programs. These dedicated professionals recognize that their specialized knowledge and training are gifts from God and they offer them up to Him by benefiting their fellow parishioners. The group is always open to new members and to discussing any identified need or topic of interest.
